ART & DESIGN

Art Full Text 1929-present
Offers broad coverage of art topics, including painting, photography, sculpture advertising art, art history, film, graphic arts, industrial design, interior design archaeology, architecture, decorative arts, folk art, textiles and more. Articles and reproductions of works of art are indexed. Citations are from 377 periodicals published throughout the world. Full text coverage is from 111 journals as far back as 1997. Art Retrospective citations go back to 1929.

ArtBibliographies Modern (1974-present)
Covers artists and movements from Impressionism in the late 19th century to the most recent works and trends. Photography is covered from its invention in 1839 to the present. Subjects cover all aspects of modern and contemporary art, including performance art and installation works, video art, computer and electronic art, body art, graffiti, artists' books, theater arts, crafts, jewelry and illustration, as well as the traditional fine arts of painting, printmaking, sculpture and drawing.

Design and Applied Arts Index (DAAI) (1973-present)
An international index to design and applied arts journals covering both new designers and the development of design and the applied arts since the mid-19th century, surveying disciplines including ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood, metalsmithing, graphic design, fashion and clothing, textiles, furniture, interior design, architecture, computer aided design, Web design, computer-generated graphics, animation, product design, industrial design, garden design, and landscape architecture.

Design Abstracts Retrospective (DAR) (1903-1986)
The same broad coverage as (DAAI) listed above, covering publications from (1903-1986) with some sources back to 1894.

Design ProFILES (DP)
A comprehensive collection of profiles in design and design-related fields providing information on more than 8,000 designers and design-related organizations that were influential in the 20th century world of design.

Oxford Art Online
The gateway into art research and the access point for Oxford art reference subscriptions and publications which include Grove Art Online, Oxford Companion to Western Art, Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms.

AskART
Database of international artists containing biographies, images, prices, and bibliographic sources.

ArtJob
Search for jobs, internships, grants, residencies and public art project opportunities by region, type of organization, and art discipline. Site also allows you to post a resume for employers to view online. Available only on the SVA campus.

IMAGES

AP Images
An online picture library of current and historical photos from the Associated Press. This constantly expanding archive of 700,000 images dates from 1844 to the present.

ARTstor
Documents artistic traditions across many time periods and cultures including architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, decorative arts, and design. Digital images come from museums, archaeological teams, photo archives, slide collections, and art reference publishers. The collection is over 900,000 images and continues to grow. ARTstor supports the needs of faculty, students and researchers in the arts and humanities and is provided through the courtesy of the Visual Arts Foundation.

Art Museum Image Gallery
Over 150,000 high resolution images from museums around the world covering contemporary art, Native American and Inuit art, to ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, along with Japanese and Chinese works.

Academic Search Elite (1975-present)
This multidiscipline database provides full text coverage of 2,100 journals covering nearly all academic areas of study. 3,650 more journals are indexed and abstracted.

JSTOR
A full text scholarly database of 150 titles focused on the arts and humanities. The Arts & Sciences III collection includes articles from journals on the history and study of art and architecture, film studies, language and literature, music, folklore, performing arts, and religion.

Film & Television Literature Index
Provides cover-to-cover indexing and abstracts for more than 300 publications, and selected coverage of 300 more.

GreenFILE
A collection of scholarly, government and general interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

LITERATURE

Literature Criticism Online
Full-text articles, critical essays and reviews from over 300 scholarly journals and literary magazines covering the 19th and 20th centuries.

Twayne Author Series
Offers 600 full-text e-book titles from the Twayne Literary Masters series, 200 each from Twayne World, US, and English Authors. The series spans from classic authors, like Sophocles, through Chaucer and Shakespeare, and up to modern writers such as Joan Didion.

EDUCATION

ERIC
ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center database of the U.S. Department of Education, contains citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals, as well as full text of more than 2,200 digests.

Professional Development Collection
A comprehensive collection of full text education journals that provides access to over 500 high quality education journals and more than 200 educational reports.


GENERAL REFERENCE

Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia
This encyclopedia indexes over 25,000 records, covering an array of topics. The database contains various images, offers brief biographies as well as information in a variety of subject areas.


NEWSPAPERS

ProQuest Historical New York Times (1851-2005)
The database covers The New York Times from its first issue in 1851 through 2005 and includes the complete paper -- cover-to-cover -- with full-page and article images in downloadable PDF. Photos and advertisements are included.

Newspaper Source
Provides cover-to-cover full text for over 200 national and international newspapers as well as full text television and radio news transcripts.

InfoTrac Custom Newspapers
Full text access to over 95 major regional, national and international newspapers.

New York State Newspapers
Search this database for full text access to ten major newspapers published in the state of New York, including the New York Times and the New York Post.

National Newspaper Index
Indexes articles from 5 top newspapers-New York Times (including the NYT Book Review and the NYT Magazine), Wall Street Journal (Eastern and Western editions), Washington Post, Los Angeles Times.

Provides the information necessary for thorough advertising research on agencies and advertisers. Business Source Elite (1965- present)
