On Tuesday, June 24, 10 SVA students took part in an event that kicked off the new season of the
Bravo TV reality series
Shear Genius. Working under the guidance of
Kevin O’Callaghan, chair of
3D Design at SVA, the students created a pop-up salon, complete with one-of-a-kind salon chairs.
The festivities took place at
Military Island in New York City's
Times Square and
Shear Genius fans got the chance to view the student-designed chairs, and vote for a favorite.
Photos of all ten chairs are also posted on Bravo's Web site, click here and vote for your favorite! The winner will be announced on July 1st.
The show offers a behind-the-scenes look at the competitve and creative world of high-end hairstyling, and pits a dozen aspiring stylists against each other in competitive tests of coiffing skill. Season 2 of
Shear Genius, hosted by actress
Jaclyn Smith, airs on Wednesday nights at 10pm eastern time on Bravo.
