The Visual Arts Press is the design studio for the School of Visual Arts. The press produces the College's printed publications, Web site, environmental graphics and promotional products. It maintains a unified identity for SVA while communicating the College's diverse messages. The press produces many publications that highlight student work, including posters, invitations, portfolios, catalogs, magazines and the SVA Web site. Publications have won hundreds of design awards, providing SVA and its students with additional media and public exposure. The most visible and highly regarded creations from the press throughout the past 50 years are the SVA New York subway posters. These posters have become a hallmark of great design in the New York landscape and have brought SVA international acclaim. The posters have featured the work of designers and artists such as Marshall Arisman, Paul Davis, Milton Glaser, Marvin Mattleson, James McMullan, Jerry Moriarty, Tony Palladino, Paula Scher, George Tscherny, James Victore and Robert Weaver. The press offers two design internships each year. Student interns are selected based on qualifications and a portfolio review. Please contact the art director for more information.
