School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Transformations,” an exhibition of work by students in the BFA Interior Design Department. The exhibition is curated by students in the Design/Build course.
Showcasing work by all 80 students in the department, the exhibition is installed in a “gallery within a gallery” created and built by students in faculty member Illya Azaroff's Design/Build course. The unique design acts as both installation and container for a wide variety of work, including 2D, 3D and video selections. The breadth of work is meant to not only highlight recent student projects, but also provide a window into the interior design profession and process.
The BFA Interior Design Department at SVA prepares students to create environments with “wow” factor that also aim to change the world. Taught by award-winning designers, architects and artists, students learn to integrate the latest technology and materials with time-tested processes and principles of design. The faculty and curriculum are guided by a commitment to sustainability, the interplay between art and design, and the responsibility of design to address social issues.

The Westside Gallery is SVA's campus gallery in Chelsea. Located at street level at 133/141 West 21 Street, it offers matriculated students a fully equipped venue in which to exhibit their work, either as part of a department-organized show, or by applying to the Office of Student Galleries.
The Westside Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.,
Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and is closed on Sunday and federal
holidays*. The gallery is accessible by wheelchair. For more

*Summer Hours: June 4th
through August 27th, 2010, the gallery will be closing one hour earlier
on Fridays (5pm instead of 6pm). The gallery will be closed for the Labor Day holiday weekend from Friday, September 3, 1pm through
Monday, September 6.
